Created from peninsular portion of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies in 1806, and ruled by Marshal Murat from 1808 through 1815, Naples contributed troops to the campaigns of 1809 and 1812, as well as the war in Spain. Of all the French minor allies, Naples had the worst army by far, matched only by the Spanish on their worst days in their ineptitude. Troops of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies were of similar quality.
