Jacques Blondeau was born on 12 January 1776 and died on 30 March 1841. He served as a French army officer during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic periods and reached general officer rank, being promoted to général de brigade on 12 October 1808. He is recorded as having held the staff-grade rank of adjudant-général chef de brigade (promotion dated 15 October 1795). He was appointed an Officer of the Legion of Honour on 14 June 1804, and under the Empire he was created a Baron of the Empire on 1 January 1813.
